Your data, centred and handled with care.
We collect what we need, use it for exactly what we say, and don't do anything dodgy with it. Here's the full picture — no glaze over the details.
This privacy policy applies to the website ceramic.love and is issued by Amanda Hav, trading as Ceramic Love Pottery, Capel-le-Ferne, Kent ("we", "us", "the studio"). Amanda is the data controller for any personal information you share with us directly.
If something isn't clear or you'd rather just ask, email hello@ceramic.love — that's always the fastest route.
1. Who's responsible for your data

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in line with UK data protection law. Our ICO registration number is available on request.
2. What we collect and why
We only collect what we actually need. Here's everything, with nothing left in the kiln.
Contact enquiries
When you use the contact form on this site, we receive your name, email address and message. We use this information to respond to your enquiry and for nothing else.
- Legal basis: Legitimate interests — you've initiated the conversation and have a reasonable expectation we'll reply.
- Retention: Up to 12 months from the date of last contact, then deleted.
Booking and payment data
When you book a class or purchase a gift card, you do so via Square (squareup.com). Square collects your name, email address, payment information and booking details directly. Square is a separate and independent data controller — their privacy policy and cookie policy apply to that part of the process.
We receive a notification of your booking (your name, date and class type) and retain this for our records.
- Legal basis: Contract — we need this information to deliver the service you've booked; and legal obligation — HMRC requires us to keep accounting records.
- Retention: Booking records are kept for 6 years in line with HMRC requirements.
Website usage (analytics)
If you accept analytics cookies, we may receive anonymised information about how pages on this site are used — things like pages visited, time on site and device type. This information cannot identify you personally.
- Legal basis: Consent — you can withdraw this at any time via the cookie banner or our Cookie Policy page.
- Retention: Per the analytics provider's settings; typically up to 13 months.
3. Who we share your data with
We share your data with third parties only where it's necessary to deliver the service. Here's who and why:
Square
When you book or purchase via squareup.com, your booking and payment data is processed by Squareup International Ltd (Fumbally Lane, Dublin 8, Ireland). Square is a separate data controller. Their privacy policy is at squareup.com/gb/en/legal/general/privacy.
Vercel (website hosting)
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA). Server logs may include your IP address as a standard part of web hosting. Vercel may process data outside the UK; where they do so, they operate under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses). Their privacy policy is at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Cookiebot (cookie consent)
If you interact with our cookie consent banner, your consent preferences are recorded by Usercentrics A/S (Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark), who make Cookiebot. They are based in the EEA, which has UK adequacy status. More in our Cookie Policy.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal data for marketing purposes. We never have and we never will.
4. How long we keep your data
| Type of data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Contact form messages | Up to 12 months from last contact |
| Booking records | 6 years (HMRC legal requirement) |
| Cookie consent records | 12 months (then re-asked) |
| Analytics data | Up to 13 months (anonymised) |
5. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to run this site and — with your agreement — to understand how people use it. When you first visit you'll be shown a cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time.
Full details of every cookie on this site, including how to manage or withdraw consent, are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights. They're yours — no need to throw them on the wheel first.
- Access Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure Ask us to delete your data — the "right to be forgotten." We'll comply unless we're legally required to keep it (e.g. accounting records).
- Restriction Ask us to pause how we use your data while a concern is being resolved.
- Portability Receive your data in a machine-readable format to take elsewhere.
- Object Object to processing based on legitimate interests. We'll stop unless we can demonstrate compelling grounds.
- Withdraw consent Where we rely on consent (e.g. analytics cookies), you can withdraw it at any time. This won't affect anything processed before you withdrew.
We don't use automated decision-making or profiling. No algorithm is deciding anything about you here.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ceramic.love. We aim to respond within one month. There's no charge for standard requests.
7. How to complain
If you think we've mishandled your data, please get in touch first — Amanda reads every email personally and will do her best to sort things out quickly. If you're still not satisfied, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection supervisory authority:

8. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if anything material changes — for example if we add a new analytics tool or change how we handle bookings. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. For significant changes, we'll flag it on the homepage for a short period.
